A Sports Photographer captures images of sporting events. They shoot a large bank of images on any given day, select the best and then edit them in post-production. Their content is used for club communications, advertisements and by media outlets.
While it’s considered important for a Sports Photographer to capture match action, they’re also asked to shoot training sessions, community events, player appearances, functions, and images for adverts.

Proficiency in post-production software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom makes the job a lot easier.
Many universities offer undergraduate degrees in Photography. A degree is desirable but not essential. It is also possible to receive certification on photo-enhancing software such as Photoshop. However, experience is valued over education.
Extensive experience of capturing images at sporting events is the minimum requirement. Applicants should be comfortable operating high quality equipment and editing images in post-production. The best way to show competency is through a portfolio of images.
