A Security Manager maintains a safe environment at a sports club’s facilities. They manage all points of entry, ensuring no unauthorised access. High levels of customer service are required so that visitors receive a favourable impression of the club. Regular patrols are combined with the monitoring and operating of CCTV to prevent any on-site crime. Any incidents they see need to be dealt with using conflict management skills.
DID YOU KNOW?
A Security Manager is often the first club representative that a visitor sees. Because of this, it’s important that they have a professional manner, presenting the club in the best possible light.
A valid SIA licence in Door Supervision, full UK driving licence, certificate in First Aid and relevant fire training qualifications are all required for any prospective Security Manager. An SIA licence in CCTV, safeguarding qualification and NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service are all beneficial to an application.
Experience within the security industry is necessary. Sports clubs often like to recruit from the armed forces or police service, though experience in these job sectors is not essential.
