RETAIL MANAGER

A Retail Manager is responsible for the operation of a sports organisation’s stores. They liaise with finance, HR, IT, logistics and marketing to ensure smooth day-to-day running of commercial stores. Constantly working to maximise profits and minimise costs, they lead a team that provides stock management, inventory reports, customer service, cashier, ticketing and other relevant services.

Constant analysis of items being sold is needed to stock stores with the most popular items. A Retail Manager decides when to apply promotions or reduce the cost of items. Ultimately, they aim to meet targets set out in the retail plan with agile, innovative work.

RECOMMENDED EDUCATION

Suitable qualifications are advantageous but not essential. Passes in GCSE English and Maths are usually required.

RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE

Experience within retail is essential. This could have been in a paid role, or voluntary work with a charity. The ability to perform a variety of different roles such as stock management, financing, pricing and customer service is the minimum requirement.
