HEAD OF EDUCATION
The Head of Education at a club is responsible for ensuring that Academy players complete their education in a safe environment at their chosen school or college. They oversee the management and supervision of the club’s education programme and help players meet their full academic potential. This involves liaising with the players’ school or college to monitor their attendance and progression.
The Head of Education will also need to create and implement a welfare plan that ensures the club’s legal and moral responsibilities are met.

The Head of Academy Education will also need to build a relationship with players’ host families to ensure that they have access to suitable transport to get to training and matches.
A degree is needed for applicants to be considered for this role. Having QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is also key, as is a current and up-to-date DBS certificate.
Experience in managing education programmes for students is the minimum requirement for this role. Experience of the education programmes used by professional clubs is also crucial. Typically, this will include the Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence and BTEC Level 3.
Knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan and how this works within a professional environment is essential, with experience of safeguarding young people highly beneficial.
