
HEAD OF ACADEMY RECRUITMENT
The Head of Recruitment within a professional academy manages, co-ordinates, develops and leads a team of academy scouts to identify and recruit elite level youth players to the club. They help to develop their team of scouts through continuous professional development, ensuring that they are all aware of the attributes the club is looking for in a youth player.

DID YOU KNOW?
As the role involves working closely with young players, candidates will need to complete a criminal disclosure and identity check. They’ll also need to ensure that their team of scouts is aware of the latest safeguarding measures within sport.
RECOMMENDED EDUCATION
Typically, the Head of Academy Recruitment will need to hold a Talent ID Award. Although not essential, coaching badges demonstrate a good level of knowledge and will prove advantageous.
RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE
Extensive knowledge and experience of the sport industry they’re working in is vital. Candidates should know the rules and regulations regarding players and their clubs. They will have an identifiable track record in scouting within a professional environment, enabling them to point to a number of players they have successfully recruited in the past. A great network of contacts within the professional game is also expected.
